Domaine Loquineau - Loire

Philippe Loquineau

Philippe Loquineau, Domaine de La Plante d’Or.

The estate, a farm in the 19th century, takes its name from the yellow lupin which once flourished there.

At its head, Philippe Loquineau came to vines through wine.

An exacting taster, he has become a rigorous wine grower: working the soil, grassing, leaf management, …..

An attentive winemaker, he intervenes very seldom, adding no laboratory yeasts, he never chaptalises and adapts the aging to each wine.

3 wines come from his 16 Hectares (38 acres) of clayey chalk and sandy chalk:

  • White Cour Cheverny, from the Romorantin grape, only found here, the Cuvée Salamandre is aged about 9 months in wooden vats.
  • Red Cheverny, made from a blend of Gamay and Pinot Noir, harvested and vinified apart.
  • White Cheverny, made from a blend of Chardonnay and Sauvignon, again harvested and vinified apart.

We very much appreciate his work and his wines, richly redolent of their birthplace in the Sologne!
